Update: What Happened Here?! Bestspeedruns Indefinite Hiatus

Bestspeedruns.com was an idea my brother and I had, born out of a fascination in the growing world of speedrunning. We believed, and continue to believe, that the world of speedrunning is primed to have much broader appeal to the culture at large, and we loved the idea of creating a user-friendly space for great content to rise to the top, creating a gateway of sorts to the phenomenon as a whole while also creating a place for runners and their hardcore fans to express their appreciation for one another.

Unfortunately, while our experience in running this blog for a short time has largely confirmed this idea, we vastly underestimated the amount of work it takes to do something like this right. Furthermore, several significant (and unexpected, but wonderful) shifts in our personal lives have made continuing with this site the way we originally intended all but impossible.

So, for now, we won’t be updating the site with any regularity. If there is someone out there who is interesting in grabbing the helm, please reach out and let us know! Again, we still believe this is an idea whose time has come, and are disappointed that we won’t be able to see it continue to come to fruition.

To everyone who generously gave up their time and energy to provide us with feedback, interviews, recommendations and votes, we really appreciate it, and hope you enjoyed the small amount of time we were able to be part of the conversation in the world of speedrunning.

All the best,

JD and Brad

Here are this month’s recommended runners! Each month, we accept submissions like the ones you’ll find below from speedrunners and fans. If you want to recommend a runner but didn’t get a submission in this month, good news! Our Recommend a Runner page for next month is now open.

Best overall streaming experience:

1. Tirean – Twitch  Twitter  Youtube

Nominated by: Anonymous

The stream is an incredibly chilled out experience and the streamer always had time to answer questions asked. He doesn’t belittle any chatters if they’re new and thankfully the memes are kept in check and good respectable discussion is encouraged.

2. CarlSagan42 – Twitch  Twitter  Youtube
